About D'Rockers:
In July of 1995 when Grunge
Music was at its boiling point, 4 architecture
students who talk about how the velvet
underground changed music decided to
collaborate a side project on music for fun. 3
Jesus and Mary Chain covers, and a tortured
Beatle song, got them to perform in front of
fellow architecture students on their annual
acquaintance party. a week later a spaced out
friend invited them to play on a battle of the
band contest and also marked their first public
performance. That was the day D'Rockers was
born.... after a feedback driven set, we were
proud and humbled to say that a "hand-less" of
individuals congratulated us on the
performance. as beginners on the music scene,
Leo had to play standing up because he only
knew a beat and it did not require playing the
bass drum, Roger and Noels scale was so limited
he had to cover songs like "down on me" or
"teenage lust". Miah's range was so limited any
cover they made had to sound like the velvet
underground. But in the end, it was all about
how music became our therapy to a normal life
or how Morrissey's poetry (like most mozheads)
shaped our souls. That same year of '95,
D'Rockers began a crusade. a crusade to perform
music to please them, a crusade that no club
owner or promoter could tell them what to play
or do on stage. although we were infamous, we
would never run out of gigs for 6 awsome
years... On March of 2001, Miah moved to
Chicago and D'Rockers called it quits. In Jan.
of 2009, Miah visited Cebu on a month long
break and we reunited briefly and managed to
put some raw music on file. played a few gigs
and just like the old days, the passion never
dies... We hope to do a full album when time
permits.
